THE COLOR OF SOUND

Earlier in Oct we got an amazing opportunity to design a HAHA MAG button for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music Charity Event.

Now we’ve got the behind the scenes scoop on the days leading up to Flea’s 50th Birthday Celebration & Charity Event for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, the Los Angeles music school he founded 11 years ago.  Artist Dana Louise Kirkpatrick designed the invites for the shindig and sent us this blow-by-blow of the amazing pieces of art (Hirst, Banksy, Murakami, etc…) that were donated to be auctioned off to raise money for the School.  It’s basically art porn…enjoy.

DAMIEN HIRST DOES FOOD

There’s no escaping the Hirst machine…and now apparently art & eating go hand and hand. At least they do if you visit the chicken & steak serving, London based restaurant, Tramshed, you can view the huge ‘Cock and Bull’ sculpture commissioned from Hirst by the restaurant owner, Mark Hix.

Not that there isn’t any relevance here. Downstairs, beneath the restaurant there’s a gallery, aptly called… you guessed it ‘Cock and Bull’. Which houses art exhibitions that rotate every six weeks.

I’m not gonna lie -i’m going as soon as I’m back in the UK.

Henry Hargreaves Tasty Take on Hirst

Oh, I know you love to dislike Damien Hirst. And we’re not posting this to get you all up in arms over his art empire. But you have to admit it’s funny that something Hirst’s dealers sell at enormous cost can be replicated for so little - file this under ‘what is and what isn’t art’.

Photographer/Artist Henry Hargreaves replicated Hirst’s Spot Paintings with colored M&Ms …and it’s more fun if you ask us.
