ANIMAE DEMENTIA

Berlin has been invaded again with huge paper creatures/animals devouring up their creators, French street artists duo R.ö and l’Homme Pendu. They use a ‘wheat-pasted’ paper technique to place the creatues into the landscape and then suspend themselves within the work, appearing to be gobbled up by the creatures.

From R.ö:

“Here is my latest project an latest session , featuring l’Homme Pendu, a french friend of mine and myself, R.ö  called Animae Dementia, mixing rope access working and paste ups. Animae Dementia, means “soul madness”, or “animals madness”, highlights on crazy mystical beasts, put into urban spaces, and interacting with men, in different ways.”

Good viewing,

R.ö

*Thanks to R.ö & L’Homme Pendu who are always awesome about sending us their latest work. You might remember the last time we featured him, he was out in Berlin. You can check out more on their Blog & Facebook. - Ginger (Editor)

ALEXANDER TIMOFEEV

Considering the day I figured some haunting imagery might be in order. These pieces by Berlin-based artist, Alexander Timofeev certainly make my skin crawl - feel free to wander over for a peek at the ones I felt might just creep you out.

WHEN GRAPHIC DESIGNERS GET BORED…

Berlin-based artists Maria Lujan and Wolfgang Krug are behind this wacky street art project they call The Knife. Which is basically a giant knife constructed from cardboard with red paper forming a fake pool of blood.

Maria and Wolfgang basically had a great time running around Berlin staging over the top stab scenes…check out the looks of the unsuspecting people strolling by.

So the fab Nadja Sayej from ArtStars* hipped me to Front Row Society. Their new approach to fashion is storming through Berlin. They’re giving talented new designers the opportunity to showcase their designs to an international audience all the while providing support for the sustainable fashion movement.

Similiar to the American company, Threadless, their community of fans vote and decide what designers submissions will go into production. Front Row recently threw a kick ass party during Berlin Fashion Week to officially launch themselves into the fashion world.

The sweet factor you ask? They will ship the products internationally. Can you say TAKEOVER!

Visual Artist, Enda O’Donoghue stationed in Berlin sent in today’s Artist Submission.

His work iseems inspired by digital communication  - notice the closer images of the paintings. The careful dissection, the pixelation like strokes giving the guise of an actual digital image.

Reno (2011) Oil on Canvas, 180 x 240 cm (5.9 x 7.9 ft)

If you want to see some more of his work, here are some links: Tumblr, Website.
