It’s early and while I’m waiting for the coffee to kick in I stumble across these paintings. Now maybe I’m still in a daze or maybe it’s the still life counteracting the caffeine high that’s starting. But these are just wafting all sorts of tranquility over me…the lull of light color palette he uses for these vintage items against the creamy white backdrops…can you feel it?

L’ivrogne (The Drunk)

Gilles Barbier, is a contemporary artist from Marseille, France. ‘The Drunk’ portrays the artist as himself (wax figure), with a seemingly unending stream or confusion of thoughts, images and emotions swirling from his mind.

TAPE NOIR

This was by far one of my favorite pieces at the Pulse Art Fair 2012 in NY.

What you’re looking at is translucent packing tape applied to plexiglass placed in front of lightboxes to give shadow and depth. A …mazing.

The Artist is Mark Khaisman - check out his site for more incredible works.

“Amazingly creative” is the house of writer/past artist Douglas Coupland.

Profiled in NYT’s Mr. Copeland’s house is resplendidly colorful, playful and loaded with contemporary art. Look at the pieces he’s used: A giant bottle of fabric softner, targets, legos, threads, and collection of glass dice as an ode to Damian Hirst’s pill paintings…
