ARMORY SHOW 2013
Strong portraits from Zanele Muholi #armoryshow2013
THOUSANDS OF CRAYONS SHAPED INTO A PORTRAIT
Artist, Christian Faur uses crayons to create stunning three dimensional pixelated like portraits. He stands the crayons up, with the point tips standing straight out toward you to achieve that effect.
CROCHET YOU
Yarn bombing is one thing (still love it), but check out Jo Hamilton, who creates these labor intensive crochets portraits from photographs by hand- no computer imaging, no sketches, or graphs. She just uses yarn and traditional crochet techniques working them from the inside out. Go see the rest of her work here.
DISSECTED PORTRAITS
New York-based Artist, Michael Mapes takes portraits, dissects them and then places them into specimen boxes, creating this curiously scientific approach to beauty & preservation. You can see this one and others like it at his virtual lab at room62.com.
