PABLO NERUDA X DIEGO RIVERA
It’s Valentine’s Day and the news that Nobel Prize-winning Poet, Pablo Neruda’s body is to be exhumed to determine what killed him seemed morbidly fitting.
It also gives me an excuse to show works the painter/muralist Diego Rivera did for Neruda. The first painting shown was used for the cover of Neruda’s book Canto General. *we stumbled across this cool B&W photo of Neruda and Rivera at Neruda’s book signing.
Rivera was also friends with Neruda’s lover and wife Matilde and wound up painting her, in the painting she’s depicted as having two heads and entangled locks of hair resembling that of Medusa. The painting still hangs in the house Neruda has built for her, La Chascona, in Santiago de Chile.
