Tate Modern’s Got Haring, Koons, Hirst and Murakami!

From now until the New Year, London is the place to be - if you’re into Pop Art that is.  The Tate Modern’s Level 4 West will be home to pieces from some of the biggest media Pop Art names: Haring, Warhol, Koons Hirst, Murakami, Prince, etc…

“Pop Life: Art in a Material Worldlooks ahead to the various ways that artists since the 1980s have engaged with mass media and cultivated artistic personas creating their own signature ‘brands’. Harnessing the power of the celebrity system and expanding their reach beyond the art world and into the wider world of commerce, these artists exploit channels that engage audiences both inside and outside the gallery.”

The highlights are sure to be the re staging of Hirst’s performance of ‘Unfair’ where identical twins will sit beneath two identical spot paintings for the duration of the exhibit and the reconstruction of Keith Haring’s Pop Shop, a New York institution that closed its doors in 2005. 

If you can’t fly to London to see the exhibit perhaps you can be sated with the Tate’s online Pop Art Boutique where you might be able to afford the shows catalog but forget about the Murakami flowerballs; they’re already sold out.
